This course is very intense, allowing you to progress rapidly, but at your own pace. At the end of it, you will be able to do controlled spins and somersaults in free fall. During each one of the eight jumps you will have a personal instructor accompanying you, to ensure your personal safety and observe your individual progress.
The course starts with a 12’500ft (3800m) tandem jump which gives you an idea of what skydiving has to offer, both physically and emotionally. Each student has his/her own instructor, who is responsible for both the theory and the practical training. The course is individually adapted to your personal needs and your instructor accompanies you on each of your jumps. Each jump will be analysed and discussed afterwards, often using video footage as a learning aid.
During the first three solo jumps, a second instructor accompanies you. The instructors position themselves on either side of you during the free fall phase, holding onto your leg straps. This enables them to intervene at any time, if necessary. After 40 seconds of free fall you open the parachute by yourself, and under radio guidance, steer your parachute down to a safe landing. The aim of this course is to get you to the required experience level, to be able to take part in further training exercises, as you progress to the point where you can successfully and safely gain your licence.
